Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
In the State of Florida if someone sends you a "goodbye" text and you simply reply to it that you wish to talk further and leave it as that I understand that this is not harassment because the "Goodbye" text didn't warn me of not contacting her. However, even if a "goodbye" text says "do not contact me again" and you send one more would that then be seen as harassment if it is just one text saying that you want to talk? There is no court order. Can one final text be seen as harassment in Florida in this case? Wouldn't it have to be repeated to be seen as harassment as per Florida law?

Yes, unfortunately it could be viewed as harassment in Florida depending on the facts and circumstances of the case before the goodbye text. And typically a victim will make it seem that there has been a great deal of undocumented harassment before the last text sent. Clearly, when a goodbye text is sent the best action to take is - do nothing...don't respond, ever again.
