Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
statis hearing
my son has an appeal and its scheduled for a statis hearing at the end of this month. My question can I address the court at this statis hearing as his father?

Off-hand, the general answer is no. You'll have to discuss the matter with your son's attorney, and see if the attorney feels like its something that should be addressed and, more importantly, appropriately addressed at the hearing, but status hearings are usually just procedural formalities so the court can have an idea of what stage the appeal is in and maintain some sort of forward movement. (Waiting on transcripts, supplementation of the record, public records (in capital cases), etc...)

Not a good idea. Let the lawyer do the talking. Tell him what you want to say. Parents almost never help and can even hurt the case.
