Is there a Statue of Limitations on how long a person can report a sexual assualt?

Re: Statue of Limitations

It depends. If the offense is reported within 72 hours of the alleged offense, there is no Statute of Limitations.

However, if more than 72 hours have passed. Then the Statute of Limitations is three or four years (depending on whether it is a 2nd degree or 3rd degree felony) from the date the victim turned 18 (if under at time of offense) or from the date it is first reported to police.
