Statute of Limitations
What is the statute of limitations in Florida for being prosecuted for a misdeaminor or felony?? Also, is libel, slander, and defimation of character a felony or misdeaminor???

The Statute of limitations period depends on what degree of misdemeanor or felony is in question. Second degree misdemeanors generally have a period of one year, and the time period increase based on the degree of offense and type of offense from there. Thus a First degree misdemeanor is generally two years, third and second degree felonies are 3 years, and so on. These are the general time limitations; However, there are a number of particular offenses where the time frame has been expanded.
To answer the second part of the question, libel, slander, and defamation are generally causes of action for a civil claim, not a criminal offense.
