Statute of limtations / FTA

Hi folks, I have a friend who is a sailor and he got arrested in monroe co.fl. from what he tells me it was a miedemeanor offense. it is a warrant for FTA. It was issued in 1998. he wanted to if there was a time limit or experation on the warrant He asked me and I told him that I would do some research. Thank You He says that it was for public intoxicataion and misdemeanor possion of marijuana under 20 grams. can he take care of this by mail since he is at sea most of the time? Sorry for lack of info hopes this does it.

He needs to contact a lawyer and look into entering a plea in "absentia". Generally this type of situation can be handled through a lawyer without the client having to appear in Court.

No there is no statutue of limitations on an fta because it means he failed to appear. Sometimes these things can be handled by mail. Pls call if I can help.
