Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I'm a teenage girl. Six months ago my mom found a message on my Facebook from one of my good friends saying he was homicidal. She called a detective whom she knew personally. She claims he is monitoring both of our computers and phones and will tell her and I will get in legal trouble if I ever message him again. Is this legal? Can police do this?

Unless a court orders you to stop contacting him and/or your friend does not want you to contact him, then other than your moral obligation to listen to your parents, you are not legally forbidden to contact him. As far as monitoring, that is likely legal, but you would need to sit down with an attorney to discuss the details to see if it is.
