Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

time in jail

how long can a person be kept in jail for a major crime (robbery with a deadly weapon) only on a warrant. No formal charges made. If they release you from jail after they decide no formal charges will be brought forward, can they later arrest a person again if they decide to file formal charges?

Re: time in jail

how long can a person be kept in jail for a major crime (robbery

with a deadly weapon) only on a warrant. IF ON A WARANT AND OUT OF STATE (INFO NOT GIVEN) HE CAN BE KEPT UP TO 60 DAYS BEFORE RELEASE. LONGER IF DEFENDANT IS FIGHTING EXTRADITION. No formal charges

made. If they release you from jail after they decide no formal

charges will be brought forward, can they later arrest a person

again if they decide to file formal charges? TOO LITTLE INFO GIVEN - IF ARRESTED THEN SPEEDY TRIAL TIME STARTS TO TICK. THEY WILL NEED TO FILE FORMAL CHARGES WITHIN 175 DAYS IF DEFENDANT RELEASED.
