what is the time limit on filing reports for a fight between inlaws and what type of charge can be filed

Re: time limits on filing reports
The Statute of Limitations, meaning the time in which charges can be filed is two years. However, for practcial purposes, a State Attorney or LEO will not press charges if the allegations are stale.
