Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Hello, today I received a letter from a Public Defender in Miami Fl. It says that the deposition that was scheduled has been canceled and I do not have to appear at the office on that date and time. It has a name and a case number. Why did i receive this letter? Does this have anything to do with me being a witness?

You were probably supposed to be served with a subpoena for the deposition, but the process server never got to you. It sounds like you were a witness, and now the deposition has been cancelled, probably because the defendant settled by pleading out, or perhaps the deposition will be rescheduled. If it gets rescheduled, you should receive notice. You may be able to check the clerk's website to see if the defendant pled out.
