Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Hi there I am a uk citizen And I have been arrested in the state of Florida for possession of loratabs only accused at the moment not charged , if I go to the uk will the uk government extradited back to the us for prosecution
1 Answer from Attorneys
It is certainly possible that you would get extradited since there is a treaty for extradition between the UK and the US. However, as a practical matter that wouldn't happen. By far your best solution is to hire an attorney in Florida before you leave the country. An attorney may be able to get the charge dismissed or amended in a way so that you don't have to fear extradition or certain arrest if you return to the US. I've had clients that live out of the country and I have been able to do that. Of course, every case is different so you should talk to an attorney from the area where this allegation happened.
