Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

unauthorized money taken out of my account by a company

I belong to a health club for 4 years now. The health club was bought by a bigger franchise approximately 2 years ago. For the past 4 years my membership dues have been an automatic debit and the past 1 year for my husband. Without my permission or knowledge the club decided to charge an an ''enhancement fee'' to all its members and withdrew $25.00 each for my husband and I...totaling $50.00. They said they sent a letter...i never recieved it and in addition I would of never agreed to it. I pay my dues and that is it all that is stated in my contract. I spoke to the owner once. Told me to fax him what I wanted him to do. He never responded back and has not returned the many messgaes my husband has left. I want my money back. Is it against the law for them to debit my account for an amount I did not authorize.?? By law do they need to return my money?? This has really stressed me out and I know a lot of members that they did the same thing to and are not happy. What can I do??

In order to access your bank account, written autorization is necessary. Check with your bank first. If unauthorized they should reverse the transaction. I'd take my business elsewhere.
