Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

my uncle is in a miami, florida prison and has been completing a 25 year sentence for a drug related crime. his release date is december 2017. as far as i know, they gave him a max sentence for not "ratting" out others who he fears may harm his family. i don't think this is right and aside from that he might get deported to his native country in which he doesn't know or have anybody. he was raised in NYC and has been in this country for over 35 years. On top of that, he is really, really sick. he has conducted himself properly and hasn't had any problems in prison. is there anything his family can do to try to get him out early?

You need to talk to an attorney that handles DOC administrative law. Once he has been sentenced, the DOC is the one to deal with and only a few attorneys do deal with this. However, try calling the Florida Bar and see if they can recommend a lawyer to deal with this.
