can police enter home no warrant or invite?

There a few special situations in which they can enter. One is exigent circumstance where they reasonably believe someone to be in danger and entry is required to protect that person. Also there is a situation of "hot pursuit", where someone has been fleeing from the police and the police chase leads into a home. These are very rare and the general rule is that it cannot be done.
