if you violate probation on a small drug possesion charge in florida can you take the time to find atty before turning in?

For any violation of probation you need to act fast because probation can serve the warrant anytime and have you picked up. If your underlying case is a misdemeanor you'll have a bit more time than if it is a felony, but nonetheless you should get busy finding representation. In addition, do not talk about the new case to your p.o. It will be used against you.
