Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Violation

I got violated on probation for not being able to pay the supervision fee. - I did get community service I HAVE DONE THAT. Only, the guy that is supposed to sign off on it is deathly sick at the moment. A different man who runs the thrift store gave me a card. He can't legally sign off on the paperwork, but he said he can verify it over the phone I did them.

It's a first time violation. I didn't get into another crime or anything. What can I look forward in court?

Re: Violation

It depends on the original charge. Typically, when you violate probation you are faced with the same penalty as for the original crime. However, inability to pay costs or fines will not typically result in a probation violation unless it is a willful failure to pay. Make sure you have as much evidence as you can get that you completed your community service hours - log in sheets, a note from the location, or anything else you can get. And explain the situation to your probation officer.

Re: Violation

you should be OK, but it depends what you are on probation for? and whether its felony or misdemeanor probation? your prior record, if any, will also be a factor. typically, judges don't put people in jail for "financials," unless the state could prove that you had the money and were willfully failing to pay your cost of supervision.
