Unless you have some incredible explanation for your flight, you will be hard pressed to avoid jail. Generally, no bond is set on VOP's at first appearance. It will be difficult to convince the court that bond should be set, given your history.

The court is not required to grant bond on a violation of probation, so you won't get one a first appearance. You do not say whether this is misdemanor or felony assault. If it is misdemeanor, it may be easily resolved, depending on what else you didn't do on probation besides running. Your prior record and the facts of your flight and the case will all factor in. Hire an attorney before you turn yourself in if you can.
