Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
v.o.p. in broward county florida
i was arreasted in 2001 for possesion of cocaine. it was my first and last offence. i finished house arrest and the house arrest officer sent my paperwork to my previous probation officer (intence drug offender probation) instead of the new (unsupervised) p.o. in this time my mother died and i was homeless. i reported to my old p.o. office but they wouldnt accept my monthly form. i left the state to change my life, but now i am an absconder. i want my life back and i am not a criminal. i only had four months left
is there a statute of limitations on this? is there a way to handle this without wrecking the good life i try to live now, and the good person i have fought to become? i want my life back.

The only way to get passed this incident and get back to your good life is to return to Broward County and answer as to why you left without finishing your probation. As of right now I would assume there is an arrest warrant for your failures to finish probation and show for the court hearing. There is no statute of limitations on these warrants and they will never go away until you take care of them. My offices are in Miami and I frequently work in Broward County. I could take a look into what exactly must be done to take care of this matter. As you completed the bulk of your probation, there is a slight chance that the warrant could be withdrawn in your absence.
A lot of what will happen depends on the specific judge who was handling the case.
If I am unable to take care of the case in your absence, we would most likely work out an in court surrender which should result in you avoiding any jail all together.
Feel free to give me a ring and we can chat further; my office is here in Broward where I previously worked as a prosecutor.
