Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
vop
A friend of mine served 2 yrs in jail, and had 5 yrs prob. for robbery..then 2 years into his probation his girlfriend became pregnant and they were on the verge of being homeless..so a friend of his convinced him to take things from his mothers house(stupid, i know)and the mother came home and caught him.. he tried to talk his way out of it, dropped the stuff he had(except for maybe $20 worth of stuff he forgot in his pocket, and ran.He was so scared that he fled the state. Once he came to his senses, he turned himself in..to authorities in PA..he signed extradition papers, gave back all the stuff.. but FL never came,so he served 4 mths in PA, untill they released him, he has tried to contact his P.O. and they just told him to get back home and face his jail time. So he got a good job(he had no money to get back to FL) and made it to GA, where he was pulled over and is being held, pending extradition..I am not sure if he is being charged for the robbery/theft..or just vop..but he wants to fix all this,he has a child now. and even tried to turn himself in..is there anything he can do to prove he is not a threat to society..and get less jail time..maybe further probation, bootcamp?i dont know if he can afford a private attorney.

He should retain an attorney simply for the purpose of negotiating a
plea with the State of Florida for him to turn himself in to answer for whatever charges may be outstanding. He can probably find one at a reasonable fee if he asks around and discusses fees in advance with the attorneys he speaks to.
