Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I am wanting to purchase a firearm and obtain a concealed weapons permit before I begin the police academy. My wife was arrested in 2004 for felony grand theft, It was an adjudication withheld, she finished her probation early 2007 and has not been in any trouble since. My question is will i legally be able to purchase and own a firearm with my wife living in the house with me? I have read that with an ajudication withheld after 3 years of completing your probation that you can own a firearm, Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

If she was never adjudicated of this charge, any other felony, or a domestic violence charge, then she is not a convicted felon for state purposes and she can possess a firearm without a waiting period. One important caveat is that federal rules are different. If she pled guilty (as opposed to no contest) to the charge in 2004, then for "federal" purposes she can't possess a firearm.

Agree with the above. Also, has she ever considered having the record sealed?
