Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I have a warrant in Ohio for failure to appear. Ohio suspended my drivers license for this. I currently reside in Florida and need to clear this up so I can get my Florida drivers license. Do I have to return to Ohio or can I turn myself in in Florida? Will Florida transport me to Ohio for such a minor offense? It is my understanding that it is a misdemeanor and it is a bench warrant. I dont believe Ohio is actively looking for me but if I were to have my ID checked in Ohio, they would take me to jail. I was able to get a Florida issued ID card but they also knew I had a suspended license in Ohio. I hope to be able to resovle this in Florida.

It is unlikely that you will be transported to Ohio to deal with that charge. If you are not going to Ohio anytime soon, you should contact an Ohio lawyer from the county where your warrant came out of. Many times, a lawyer may be able to resolve your warrant without you having to go back.

Good luck,
