Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Warrant

I have a warrant because I didn't pay my court cost. I've paid all my fee's for being on probation and thats closed but I didn't have all the money for the court cost I have been making payments but they won't remove the warrant until it's paid in full. I will be getting married in two weeks and finishing college when I apply for my marriage license will that warrant show up.

Re: Warrant

In the counties where I practice, which is central and west Florida, they don't do a warrants check when you apply for a marriage license, and I doubt that they do anywhere in Florida, but I guess it's possible. If you're applying for your license in Orange County, which is where your zip code is, I know they don't do warrants checks, but your better course is to pay the court cost off right away. No sense in spending your wedding night in jail when you get pulled over for speeding because you are late to the church.

By the way, I've never heard of a PO or judge removing a warrant when costs are paid. Usually, the warrant remains until it's executed (you are arrested) and you see the judge. POs don't even have the power to withdraw warrants, though I guess they could ask the judge to do it.
