Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
My wife got into a argument with my dad he pushed her and she pushed him back he is much bigger then her well the police got called they talked to both and because my dad is 65 they decided to arrest my wife for battery of a person over 65 in florida that's considered a felony. I hired an attorney and he wanted $6000 up front and said that would cover everything. My dad never had any intentions to persue charges so after a conversation with the DA with my dad they dropped/abandoned the case so all the attorney did was file a notice of representation and doesn't want to give any refund what should I do or what can I do?
1 Answer from Attorneys
It depends on the terms of the agreement. Most attorneys charge a nonrefundable fee. You could ask the attorney if he would be willing to refund part of the money, and see if that is an option that all parties can agree upon.
