Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I will try and explain this it's complicated. My partner sells things on ebay. They are antiques. He has excellent feed back and no unhappy customers for years now. Occassionally people will ask him to sell them items off of ebay to avoid fees. He has a couple people that only buy from him that way. About 5 months ago someone that has bid on his items and never won them emailed him and asked him to sell direct to him off ebay. He had a list of things he was interested in. My partner happened to have these items so sent him a picture of them. The guy did not ask any questions about the items and my partner did not express or imply authenticity of these items. He is not an antique expert but a picker. The individual mailed a cashiers check and the check was cashed and the goods sent out to another state. A week later the individual sent an email saying they wanted all their money back the goods were fake and they would tell everyone on ebay he sells fake goods if money not sent back. My partner never said anything about the age of the goods the individual was just begging to send the money and for my partner to hurry and send out the goods. The person is threatining to besmurch my partners name and is accusing him of fraud. I saw the sale email there was nothing about age or condition. Just photos. The guy said he assumed they were in a different condition. Also he bought one other time and was very happy. Now he wants all 8,000.00 dollars back or else he'll tell everyone my partner sells fake goods. The original sale was 5 months ago. My partner is very upset as they have a good reputation. The money has already been spent. Can you advise?

Despite using the word fraud in your post, everything you describe is something to be addressed by a civil attorney, NOT a criminal law attorney. You should repost there, or better yet, just call a civil attorney in your area who can go into detail with you. Even if they charge you, a couple hundred dollars is well spent to save $8000.
