for example how old would a girl have to be to date a guy thats 18 years of age i heard it was 16 for a female to make her choice on who she wants to date is that true?

Your question asks how old one must be to "date" someone who is sixteen? There is no law against "dating." There is a law against having "sexual relations" with a minor, that is someone under 18 years of age. If an adult twenty-four years of age or older has sexual relations with someone under the age of 18, the adult has committed statutory rape in Florida in violation of 794.05 of the Florida Statutes. That crime is a second degree felony.
