Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Florida

Is it legal for an 18yr old to be in a relationship with a 17yr old in Fl? I understand that one can legally date a 17yr old, but could get accused of having sexual relations with a minor (even if the couple were just holding hands). I heard about "Age gaps" in florida consisting of only be accused if 24 + yrs old with a 16 or less yr old. Is this true? Also, if it is illegal, is there anything that could be filled out to prove that the person does plan on having sex with the person? Thanks.

Being in a relationship isn't a crime. Being in a sexual relationship could be a crime depending upon the ages of the parties. It is not a crime for an 18 year old and a 17 year old to be in a sexual relationship together. It is a crime for a person 24 years of age or older to have sex with someone 17 or younger.
