Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Florida

School Racial Discrimination

My daughter was tested for the gifted program at her school and on the submitting paperwork there is a box that is to be checked if you are a minority. Because she is WHITE she did not get accepted into the gifted program on her score. If she was BLACK she would have been accepted. I was told that she is not a minority so her score must be higher. At her school the whites are the minority. I can not believe the school can say that a Black person has to have a lower score to be gifted. Race should not even be a factor. What can I do about this???

Re: School Racial Discrimination

If the reason she was not accepted was that she is not a "minority," and "minorities" who achieved lesser admissions qualificatons were admitted over her, then you have a neat court case, which must be analyzed in terms of the recent U/M decision.
