Legal Question in DUI Law in Florida

Application advice?

I apologize if this has already been answered. I entered a plea of no contest to misdemeanor DUI in 2004. I am currently finishing up the interview process for a new position. How would you suggest one answers the following? ''Have you even been convicted of a criminal offense other than a minor traffic infraction?''

I assume my plea of no contest has resulted in a criminal conviction. However, couldn't a conviction of a misdemeanor be considered minor when compared to a felony....or am I stretching on this one?

Re: Application advice?

In all fairness, that question is intended to see if you've been convicted of any criminal charges. The language "other than a minor traffic violation," means they don't necessarily care about a speeding ticket or running a stop sign. Anything more serious than that, which a DUI certainly would be, should be answered in the affirmative.

Usually, the best policy is to be truthful and provide an explanation (if necessary) to explain the circumstances of that arrest and/or why such an event will not happen again.

Good luck.
