Legal Question in DUI Law in Florida

dui

In 1995, in the state of Illinois, I received a DUI. I received a summary suspension and my record was cleared. I was not finger printed. Since then, I have had no further DUI\'s or other offenses. I have Masters in teaching in Illinois and would like to transfer my license to Florida. On the Florida certification form, they ask for \''sealed or expunged\'' records. Do I have to report my 1995 DUI even though I am under the impression that there is no record of this?

Re: dui

well you never got the dui sealed or expunged so in that regard you need not report anything.

DUI records in Illinois are kept in the Secretary of State's office. You can get an abstract from the Secretary of State, and I suggest you do so. You have been asked about expunged or sealed so I presume there were other questions about cases that were not expunged or sealed. There is likely a record available of the incident even absent the fingerprinting. From that standpoint you should answer all questions truthfully. It is usually better to reveal all rather than giving the impression of hiding something. Regarding this specific question the case you describe does not fit that category, but be careful in that it may fit within another question asked.
