You may be able to avoid having to fly down if you have an attorney represent you and appear on your behalf. If the charge is a misdemeanor you may be able to resolve the case with a plea in absentia form that is submitted through the mail and depending on the facts and your history you may be able to do mail in probation with some additional sanctions.
Of course if you want to dispute the charge and go to trial, you will have to show up.
If you have more questions, feel free to call my office at 321 252 4396.
Without more info., no atty can give you all the advice you need...such as...I believe you are saying there is a warrant for failure to appear. This would need to be resolved separate from the case. It is unclear what the charge is. Is it a DUI or leaving scene of accident or something else? If you don't know, an atty. can look it up in the county where the incident happened. These issues are the best place to start.
If my office can be of assistance in any counties in North Fla., give us a call.
Good luck. Tom R.
