Technically your license can be suspended for 12 months total. The DMV administrative suspension begins. Then, if you have not been sentenced by the court before that suspension is over, the court will suspend it for an additional 6 months. If you are sentenced before the DMV suspension is up, the court suspension will run concurrent to the remainder of the DMV suspension and until it is completed. A typical suspension runs from 8-9 months total.
