I want to know if I move to Fla. and have lost my NJ drivers lic. for 2yrs in Jan. 2011 (2nd DUI offense in 8yrs) if I move to Fla. and live and work there, would I be able to drive (maybe a hardship lic.?). Or would I have to wait untill the time was up in NJ? Wondering if I got a Fla. attorney, they could help me to drive as I would be buying a home there and my son would be attending school there and I would be working there,(hopefullyt opening a business). As the laws are not so punitive as they are here in NJ. Thank you for taking the time to help me, also, if you know of any steps to take to help me with this (one size fits all NJ laws) that would be great, again thank you.

If you have NJ license issues then a Florida attorney is not going to be able to help you. Florida like all states treats DUI suspensions in a reciprocal manner. That means until you get NJ cleared up, Florida won't issue you a license. However, if NJ gives you a hardship, then FL may give you a hardship. I would talk to a NJ attorney to see what you can do to get a hardship or other license.
