Hello! I just moved from Kentucky to Florida, and I was trying to change my drivers license over to fl when they told me that I couldnt Because my license was suspended in KY for a seatbelt ticket and a failure to change address tickets that I completely foregot about. They said the only way to resolve the suspension is to come to KY and go to court, and they'll decide what to do then. Is that true? Would I really have to go all the way to KY? I have two small kids and I have no money to go there. What can I do? Please help me!!

You need to contact Kentucky. Their rules may REQUIRE you to show up to court. However, most states allow exceptions for traffic tickets. For example, it may be as simple as paying the fine over the fine. Or, by hiring an attorney to appear on your behalf to resolve it may be an option (and actually may be the best option). Although you may feel you don't want to spend the money for an attorney, I'm sure you'd prefer that to not being able to drive or worse, having a criminal record for driving on a suspended license. In short, contact an attorney in Kentucky.
