Legal Question in DUI Law in Florida

public defender

I am charged with DUI, have no job,take care of my elderly mother, Have less than $500.00 in a retirement acct. less than $20.00 in my checking acct. and no other real assets except 2 old cars;one crashed up and the othjer 15 yrs old. I applyed for a public defender and was approved but then the judge denied the approval and said I need to go get a lawyer. Can I appeal this or should I just try to fight the charge on my own as I blew .000 and .000? Thanks

Re: public defender

Believe it or not, we defense lawyers consider DUIs more complex than most robbery cases, burglary cases, or even some types or murder.

Don't do this on your own. If you blew .00, then the prosecution must suspect you of doing drugs or something. Hire a lawyer immediately.

Re: public defender

Do not try to fight the charge on your own. DUI cases are more complex than you might think. Your case should be handled by a criminal defense attorney who handles DUIs on a regular basis. If the State is proceeding with the charge after you blew zeros, then there must be some evidence it is relying on to support the elements. You need an attorney to respond to those claims.
