I would like to transfer my case to California to be closer to my father who is ill.

A state criminal case must remain in the state where the alleged crime occurred.

If your case is still being prosecuted and you have not been sentenced, you can not have your case moved to any other jurisdiction. If however you have already resolved your case and were placed on probation, you can have your attorney petition for a transfer of probation to another jurisdiction assuming that jurisdiction will accept you as a probationer. Good Luck
