Parents &Students Rights (Elementary School)
What are my childs rights, when it comes to a teacher grabbing her arm and digging fingernails in as well? First, The school should be contacting parent immediatley, correct? What are the laws that protect our children from this type of situation? What are my legal rights as parent as far as confronting the school about situation?

Re: Parents &Students Rights (Elementary School)
Your rights depend on whether it is a public school vs a private school. If a private school, there is always a booklet that explains your rights. You need to read it. If a public school, you actually have more rights. You certainly have the right to speak to the teacher and the principle about this. If no real injury, then it would not be worth pursuing for a private attorney. But such matters are generally reviewed by the ACLU. Contact it in your area.

Was she hurt? It does not sound like it. What happened to cause the altercation? How old is she? The parents are not required to be called each time a child misbehaves or is disciplined. There is not enough presented about "this situation" to say that the parent or child has any rights at all that were compromised.
