cemetery plots

My Mother is 90 yrs old she bouth her cmetery plot here in Miami Fl back in Sep 93 she wanted it to be next to her only brother in this country, the cemetery started making deductions for 60 mos for $63. and the last Paymet was $19. Now I realized that all I have is the contract that was sign by her and me, but there's no deed and she never received it the property I had called the Cemetery and they can not find it, Please what can I do! Like I said she did pay for it and she paid to be next to her brother. What can I do. Thank You so much--name removed--Lorenzo

You need to immediately contact the cemetery and demand that they search their records to verify your mother's ownership of her plot. If necessary, go to the office of the cemetery and speak with the manager.

If they continue to deny her ownership, then you may need to hire an attorney to intercede on your behalf. It might cost a bit of money but it will be far less than having to buy a new plot. In the interim, look for her cancelled checks or copies of money orders that she used to pay with. If she does not have them, order copies.
