Re: Need to find out about guardianship for our mother,

The Court can appoint co-guardians of your Mother's person and property. As to how your Mother's assets can be protected, I would have to have additional information. Please e-mail me direct for a continuation of this free consultation and I will provide my toll free telephone number to you. In your e-mail, please provide the type of assets that your Mother owns and in whose name or names the assets are titled and the value of the different assets. I also need to know your Mother's age and whether or not she has health insurance and what type of monthly income she has. Has your Mother previously executed a durable family power of attorney ? Also, has your Mother been adjudged incompetent by a Court ?

Re: Need to find out about guardianship for our mother,

You are advised to consult with a local elder law attorney who can advice you re specific legal options related to your situation. A guardianship can be established appointing one or more guardians to manage the property and medical care of the individual. The guardians are responsible for managing the finances. More information is needed regarding property, mental and physical condition, legal incapacity, existence of a will, durable power of attorney, health insurance, etc.
