Granddaughter does not want to move out
Im 72 and my wife is 68, our grandaughter moved in with us because of a bad relationship with her mother, she is now 18 years old and is very disrespectful to us, leaves on a friday night and does not return until Sunday morning, threatens us, makes us do things that we do not want to do, and now her friend is moving in to live in our home without our permission, and her friend will not leave our house. We do not know what to do, because the sheriff says that our granddaughter can do whatever she wants because she lives in the same home as we do. What can we do as the elderly in this situation?

If the sherrif said that he is an idiot.
When your granddaughter leaves on Friday for one of her weekend binges, just get the locks to the house changed. Pack her stuff up and have it ready for her when she returns. Put it out on the front steps. Don't just leave it there to be stolen. Put it out there and keep an eye on it for when she returns. Take some pictures of things. If she breaks in or causes damage when she gets locked out, call the police and have her arrested. If you want to be nice about it. let her know that you want her out of the house by Friday evening and give her some warning. If a friend could be there when you told her and could be there when she returns, that would be best, just to have a clear witness to what happens. Good luck. Sorry that she is such trash. Don't let her walk over you. If you feel threatened, you can apply for a restraining order from the court that will order her to stay away from you.
