Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Florida
Fair compensation?
I have been hired to write a
screenplay from a previously existing
story for a small production
company. The film has a projected
budget of 200k, but currently only
50k is IN the bank. The
compensation sounds shady to me...
''In addition to a possible upfront fee
($1,000 if the budget hits 200k), a
deferred contract at of 1 point on a
1000 point scale will be awarded for
a period of 10 years or until a total of
$50,000 is realized.''
They have said that most others
involved have lower compensation
caps and that payments will increase
as those are achieved, but I'm not
sure if I'm being screwed. Is this fair
compensation?

Would need to review entire contract.
