Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I was 3 months pregnant when I met this guy, we got married and he decided that he wanted to be on the babies birth certificate, I warned him repeatdly that if we ever seperated this would make him legally responsible. He understood that and went on to sign the birth certificate. He took care of the child for the first 10 years of the kids life. We are now divorced and he is remarried. I was recently laid off my job and need help, I want to apply for child support but do not know if I can file on him since he is not the biological father. All the paperwork wants to know who is the legal father. what do i do?

If your divorce paperwork says he is the father, then he is the legal father, and he must pay child support. If it doesn't, then he will likely ask to disestablish paternity through a paternity test, and he will not likely have to pay. The birth certificate is largely irrelevant. You may need to find the biological father.
