Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

17 year old Minor

My husband has custody of our 17 yr old daughter. I pay child support. Recently he allowed her to move to our home town and live with an ex girlfriend. I still paid him support. This women has now kicked my daughter out on the street. She has until friday night to get out. I live 3000 miles away, and he would NEVER allow her to come here, but yet doesn't want her to come to his house either. She will be 18 in 4 months and I realize he could force her to come to his house but he is also verbally abusing her telling her she is a piece of S__t and true F__K up. Isnt it against the law to kick a minor out with no where to go? And isnt it illegal to collect support for a child that doesnt live with you. Can I file charges against this women? My sister and mother are going to take care of her now, but the emotional distress that its caused her is outragous. She moved home to go to high school and to graduate. Her father wasnt making her go to school in Washington State. She is in Oregon again. I know he has custody but I am her mother, dont I have rights too? I am afraid for her well being if she is forced to return to her father...

Re: 17 year old Minor

Since your daughter lives in Oregon and recently moved from Washington, your questions about abuse and your rights to your daughter would have to be answered by Washington or Oregon lawyers, depending on how much time she's lived in each state.

Since your daughter no longer lives with her father, you may be able to stop paying him support. If he file and a motion for contempt against you in Florida for failure to pay, you would have a very strong defense.
