44 year old son living with mother

What can my mother do to get her 44year old son to leave the house. He has a very bad temper, has been in jail before and will not leave the house. He uses her stuff and will not reimburse her. He thinks everything there is his. Has said to her that ''I wish you would die''. She is very afraid of repercussions if he was to leave on bad circumstances. Has a history of domestic violence, drug/alcohol abuse. Please help, thank you.

If he is not on the deed of the house, she can just tell him to leave and if he refuses, she can call the police. If she is afraid of him, she can seek a restraining order against him.
