Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I am currently a 16 yr old, living with a realtive because my mom decided to regularly visit/stay in the middle east for periods as long as 1 yr. The relative that i am currently staying with harrases me verbally and at times physically also. I am not allowed to go out with my friends, nor am i allowed to have a cell phone. When i tell my mother of my relatives behavior she says "this person has to much for you so be greatful". I am tired of living like this. I don't want that relative or my mom getting in any kind of trouble. Thats why i havn't called the cops when the abuse took place. My teacher told me about becoming Emacipated. Would i qualify? .. if yes wht documents are needed? and are there any chances of the case being denied ? can my mom/relative cancell the procedure ? and also i read somewhere that i have to be able to financilly fund myself, well i have a job that i had to take a leave from because my relative wouldn't allow me to work part time. they paid $10/h and i worked 25 hrs a week. knowing that is not enough for a living, my teacher has offered to help me with that. plz help me out.. thanks

YOur teacher needs to continue teaching and leave being a lawyer up to a lawyer. YOu can only be emanicpated if you are working full time and can maintain a home, utilities etc.
I suggest you stop protecting your relative and call the Dept. of Social Services - have them re move you from the home and place you 1. with a school mates' parent that would be willing to take you in or 2. place you in a home that would allow you to work parttime and attend school. If your teacher has offered to help you, DSS would have to investiage whether that would be a good environment for you. Good luck
