Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I have a 16 yr old son that has been living with his paternal grandparents since he was about 9. The grandmother past away a couple of years ago and now the grandfather has fell ill and now living with one of his adult children in Tampa; leaving my son at home with his cousin (its been about 5 months)I have not signed over any parental rights. My son receives SSI benefits. The cousin has applied for child support for my son. I have decided to move my son home with me because I do not work and can not pay child support. My son says he doesnt want to move home with me. I know he is of age to make that decision but what do I do to get out of paying child support. I would rather have him home with me than to pay someone child support. He was not taken from me and parental rights have not been taken. He cousin has no legal guardianship over him.

Why is your son receiving SSI - is he a special needs child? How old is his cousin? Why has he lived t here. Need more info before answering your question.
