Adding a name to child

Can I add my last name to my childs name who currently uses the last name of his father without getting permission from the father? We have never married and we are not together anymore. I would like my son to have my last name and his fathers last name.

If the father's name is on the birth certificate of your child, then you can't change the child's last name without filing a Petition for Name Change for Minor Child. I recommend that you speak to a family law attorney in your area about this issue for further legal advice.
