Adoption

I was adopted in 1962. I don't think it was legal. I have a social security number from my adopted name. But the birth certificate i have does not have a seal or look authentic, later my bological mother left me my real birthcertificate with seal, although different name. How do i change or get this corrected and get a new SS # and b-certificate. Help

You have to contact the bureau of vital statistics in the state where you were born (or where the certificate that you want to change was issued). They will give you their procedures for amendments. You can probably do this online as well.
