Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

adoption

I am a girl who was adopted 18 years ago. I know some information, but I would like to create a search for my biological birthgiver. What sort of steps do I go about? Do I have to go through a lawyer? I know it was an open adoption. How would I find my birthgiver?

Re: adoption

Definitely begin by registering with Florida's Adoption Reunion Registry (FARR). This is assuming your adopion took place in Florida. However, there are many other search options depending on what information you have, etc. The search is more likely to be successful if you "don't put all of your eggs in one basket."

Please feel free to contact my law office for a free consultation concerning this matter. Best wishes on your search.
