This may sound crazy, but I want to adopt a friend of mine she has no family, her mother committed suicide when she was 12. We thought about it and we really want to do it. The catch she is 25 yrs old. What do we have to do.--name removed--Neuville

The same petition as a child's must be filed with the court along with the supporting documents. Written consent of the adoptee, his or her spouse, as well as the biological parents are also required (although service on the parents may be enough).
