Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
age differences in relationships and how they effect custody
I'm 17 & 6 months away from being 18. My boyfriend is in his twenties. My mom's perfectly fine with us having a relationship and we've never had sex. He had a baby with his ex-girlfriend before he and I had met. Since they were never married it makes any decisions of custody extremely complicated. His ex-girlfriend says that if he doesn't stop dating me she'll take the baby away and he'll never be able to see her again. Since we've never had sex, I'm almost 18, & my mom approves of us can she do that?

Absolutely not. Those are the words of a childish mother who does not have the ability to deny your boyfriend the right to see his child. As the natural father, his rights are equal to the mother, although he may have to go to court to enforce his rights.
