If you are the beneficiary listed on the policy, you will get the life insurance proceeds. They will be in guardianship or in a trust (depending on what your father planned for) in your name at least until you are 18.

The payment from your father's insurance policy will go to the named beneficiary which may not necessarily include you. If a payment is given to a minor, it will be held in trust by a guardian or natural guardian until he or she reached the age of majority which is 18 in the State of Florida unless your dad made other provisions. The monies will not go to you directly at your age.
